While traveling at a fast speed the 18 foot power boat crashed into an embankment.

Jay Smith, 44, was unable to survive the injuries he suffered in the crash.

One woman and two male passengers were rushed to local hospitals for treatment.

Their names have not yet been released. One man has been released from care, and the other remains hospitalized.

An update on the woman’s condition has not been reported.

Police are unsure, at this time, who was driving the boat.

They are conducting a full investigation into the fatal accident.

Evidence was discovered leading police to believe that alcohol may have been a factor.

Two children were injured Sunday when a boat caught fire on a New Hampshire river.

Another local boatman saw the flames and picked up the two adults and two kids that were trapped.

Fire fighters were able to extinguish the fire within a half hour. A medical crew arrived and transported the victims to a local hospital. The two children sustained minor injuries.

There is ongoing investigation by the New Hampshire Marine Patrol to figure out the cause of the boat fire.

Chad Edmonds, 28 of Brighton, was driving a boat when it hit a steel pier on the River Raisin around 11 p.m. Saturday.

Firefighters responded to the scene and found two passengers still on board. They were taken to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Edmonds was found a couple hours later and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The incident is under investigation.

Keenan Stearns, 50, of South Bend, Washington, was the captain on the 73-foot Grays Harbor-based commercial fishing vessel when his body got tangled in the crabbing equipment on board before 5 p.m. Friday.

Rescue crews responded to the scene, about 15 miles west of Grays Harbor, Wash, and transported Stearns to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital, but pronounced him dead before arrival from a head injury.

A 48-year-old man was operating a boat carrying six people when he crashed it into a Bethel Island levee on Sand mound Slough near the Sugar Barge RV Park and Marina around 8:30 p.m. Friday. Three female passengers suffered injuries in the accident. One, a 17-year-old girl from Martinez, was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. The other two were taken to Sutter Delta Medical Center in Antioch.

The boats operator was arrested on suspicion of operating a boat under the influence of alcohol and causing injury.

The accident is under investigation.

Rodney Clark, 84, of Grand Forks, was driving the van on the southbound exit ramp off Interstate 29 approaching 32nd Avenue South when he failed to stop at a red light around 3:40 p.m. Monday. The van swerved to avoid oncoming traffic and collided with a pole, causing the boat to break loose and enter the rear of the van.

Clark and passenger, Carol Clark, 82, also of Grand Fords, were transported to Altru Hospital with injuries. As of Tuesday afternoon they are listed in satisfactory condition.

The city of Lakewood will not file criminal charges against the driver of the boat, McKinley, 34, but gave him a $343 ticket Thursday for negligent boating.

The kayaker, Kenny Ross, 14, suffered a ruptured spleen, broken ribs and a cut in his head in the accident. He has undergone multiple surgeries.

Christian Frey, 46, of South Hampton, was operating the boat in the ocean off of Hampton Beach when the boat struck a large wave about 50 yards offshore from Atlantic Avenue around 7 p.m. Sunday.

Passenger Barry Arnold, 25, of Plaistow, was taken to Exeter Hospital where he was pronounced dead from hypothermia/cardiac arrest.

Frey was transported to Exeter Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.

According to officials, both men were not wearing life jackets when the accident occurred and were also stuck in the water about 45 minutes before they were retrieved.

The family from Parker, Colorado, was boating on a 28-foot-long speedboat in Lake McConaughy Saturday afternoon when the accident occurred. Officials believe it may have been a mechanical problem that caused the boat to overturn and break.

Joseph Drawbaugh, 42, was killed in the accident.

Drawbaugh’s wife, Susan, was transported to Ogallala and then transferred to a Denver hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Drawbaughs’ 15-year-old daughter, Jenny, was also transported to Ogallala suffering a broken leg. Their 10-year-old son, Colton, had a broken arm.

The 13 people were traveling at bout 50 miles per hour on a 45-foot performance boat when the driver attempted a sharp turn. The boat struck a wake and all 13 occupants were tossed into the river.

Responding emergency crews managed to rescue the 11 adults and two children, 5 and 10 years of age, out of the river.

Eleven of the occupants were transported to hospitals with moderate injuries.
