According to state police, Jonathon Lupton, of Frenchville, was driving southbound on state Route 1011 when he fell asleep behind the wheel and veered into the northbound lane, colliding with a northbound vehicle driven by Jason Blocker, of Schnecksville.

Lupton had to be extracted from his vehicle by the Karthaus Fire Department and then transported to a hospital with major injuries.

Blocker was not injured.

An 84-year-old Bernice man was driving a pickup truck eastbound on U.S. 60 when his truck crossed median and collided head-on with a westbound dump truck trailer driven by James Edward Coshatt, 51, of Bristow around 12:40 p.m. Monday. Both vehicles burst into flames.

The 84-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was partially ejected from the truck and was pronounced dead the accident scene.

Coshatt was airlifted to Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, where he was listed in critical condition and suffers serious burns.

One man was killed and another suffered injuries in a head-on collision Monday morning west of Hartley, Iowa.

Clayton Michael Noll, 22, of Spencer, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix westbound on Highway 18 when he collided with an eastbound 2004 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Donald John Schmalen, 55, of Sheldon a half-mile west of Hartley.

Schmalen was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Noll was transported to Spencer Hospital with injuries.

Steven Ray Franks, 55, of Eufaula, was driving his 2006 Pontiac southbound on State Road 281 when he crossed the median and collided head-on with a 2001 Mitsubishi SUV driven by Daulton A. Davis, 71, of Freeport, Texas.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the accident scene.

Both Franks and Davis were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Elleny T. Belayneh, 19, of Minneapolis, was the passenger in a northbound 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix on Highway 169 when the vehicle crossed the median near Pioneer Trail and collided head-on with a southbound 2004 Pontiac Aztek just before 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Belayneh was killed in the accident.

Neither of the drivers involved suffered serious injuries.

Officials with the Bloomington and Eden Prairie police departments responded to the collision scene.

Norman Wisor Jr., 51 of West Decatur, was driving a 2005 Suzuki S50 Boulevard northbound on state Route 1014 when he lost control of his vehicle and veered into the southbound lane of traffic, colliding with a 1999 GMC Sierra K2500 driven by John D. Berkley, 65 of Jennerstown.

According to police, Wisor was killed from injuries he suffered in the accident.

Berkley and his two passengers, who were wearing their seat belts, were not injured.

According to Rotterdam Police, Jessica Sebast, 18, of Schenectady, was driving an SUV on Interstate 890 when she lost control of the vehicle and veered across the center line. Her vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming SUV.

Sebast was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers from Connecticut in the second SUV were transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident is under investigation.

Patrick Duffy, 18, of Sac City, was traveling eastbound on Highway 18 when he lost control of the vehicle and drove into the westbound lane of traffic, colliding with a semi-truck head-on. The accident occurred east of Boyden at about 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The Sioux County medical examiner pronounced Duffy dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi truck, Andy Enyart, 55, of Waukon, Iowa, was transported to the Sheldon hospital with minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation.

Andy Enyart, 55, of Waukon, Iowa, was driving a 2000 Freightliner semi tractor trailer westbound on Highway 18 when he was struck head-on by an eastbound 1998 Chevy Camaro that had veered into the westbound lane of traffic around 7:28 p.m.

The driver of the Camero, Patrick Duffy, age 19, of Sac City, Iowa, was pronounced dead at the accident scene by the Sioux County Medical Examiner.

Enyart was taken by ambulance to the Sheldon, Iowa hospital with minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation.

The 26-year-old driver of a vehicle lost control and crossed the median, striking another vehicle head-on around 11:35 p.m. at Jacqueline Drive and West Leland Road, according to Pittsburg police Lt. Jim Calia.

The driver that caused the accident was taken to a hospital and arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

A woman in the second vehicle was trapped and had to be extracted by emergency responders. The woman and her two teenage daughters were all transported to the hospital but are expected to survive the crash.
