Brian Davis was riding his recently purchased motorcycle on the bridge when, according to witnesses, Davis’s bicycle began to wobble before he crashed into a wall.

Davis was killed in the accident, which occurred around 2 p.m. Monday.

The accident is under investigation. It is unknown what caused Davis to crash and whether speed or lack of experience were factors.

Evelyn M. Repue, 53, of Liberal, was driving a vehicle westbound on South Street, a short distance west of Hill Street in Liberal, when she drove off the road and ran into a utility pole, according to the state patrol.

Repue was transported to Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar with injuries. The extent of her injuries is unknown.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.

Jessica R. Phillips, 19, of Neosho, was traveling westbound on Highway 60 when she lost control of her vehicle and ran it off the road five miles west of Neosho. The vehicle overturned, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Phillips was transported by medical helicopter to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin where she was pronounced dead at 2:12 a.m. Tuesday.

It is unknown what caused Phillips to run off the road. The accident is under investigation.

Jeremy W. Setzer, 24, was lying in the westbound lane on Clark Lane when Alan Mitchell, a six-year veteran of the Columbia Police Department, struck him, according to the Columbia Police Department. Setzer was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Mitchell has been placed on paid administrative leave while police investigate the accident. It is unknown when Mitchell may return to duty.

According to Columbia Police Capt. Steve Monticelli, Mitchell was given the leave because he was too distraught to work after the incident.

The multiple accidents happened between the hours of 12:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. in Kansas City, Missouri. One of the accidents involved an Overland Park police officer that was responding to an earlier accident at Interstate 435 and Antioch Road. The officer suffered minor injuries in the accident.

The snowfall on Saturday night resulted in the slick roads which caused the eleven accidents Sunday. According to a Missouri Department of Transportation snow removal worker, melting snow was refreezing on the pavement and recommended that drivers stay off the roads if possible.

Perry Rushing of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office says the plane, a single-engine Cessna 182, fell just before midnight Friday in a heavily wooded area west of Independence, Louisiana.

The pilot of the plane, Glen Johnson, 39, of Gautier, Missouri, and two other Missourians, Tabitha Dolbarel, 39, and her 13-year-old son Nelson Dolbare, of Van Cleave, were all killed in the crash.

It is unknown what caused the crash. Rushing does not believe that weather was a factor in the accident. The plane was en route to Marksville in central Louisiana, from Slidell.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

Roy Crocker, 54, of Ash Grove, was traveling in a 1998 Honda GL1500 on Interstate 44 just east of Fidelity when the accident occurred, according to the patrol’s report. Crocker was transported to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin suffering from moderate injuries, stated the patrol. Crocker was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The accident is under investigation.

Katilyn M. Fretwell, 19, of Canton was driving southbound on U.S. 61 South in a 2006 Kia Sorento, less than a mile south of the Gailey Bridge, when she drove off the right side of the roadway, overturning several times. Both Fretwell and her passenger, Ashley N. Trout, 20, of Cameron, Illinois, were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident and were transported by Pike County Ambulance to Pike County Hospital in Louisiana for treatment.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:13 a.m. Saturday. The incident is under investigation.

Phyllis Ware, 49, of Albany, Missouri was traveling northbound in a 2006 Pontiac on Missouri Route N, five miles west of Conception in Nodaway County. Around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday the Pontiac struck the side a 2003 Ford Ranger driven by Bernard Eckstein, 71, of Stanberry. The Pontiac ran off the roadway and rolled over, before coming to a stop upright in a ditch.

Ware was transported to Heartland Regional Medical Center suffering from serious injuries that required surgery. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Eckstein was wearing a seat belt and did not suffer any injuries.

Morris S. Maltzman, 62, of St. Charles, Missouri was killed when the car he and another man, Justin C. Brown, 24, of Pennsylvania, was hit by a tractor-trailer, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to Brown, the car had run out of gas and he and Maltzman were attempting to push it along the emergency lane to safety. As they approached a bridge overpass near Blodgett, the road narrowed and the tractor-trailer hit the car from behind around 8 p.m.

Maltzman was killed in the collision, and Brown received moderate injuries. The driver of the truck suffered from minor bruises and cuts.

Southbound traffic was blocked and vehicles were diverted from I-55 at mile marker 80 and detoured through Benton on U.S. 61, Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said Monday night.
