Teenage Girl Killed in Pedestrian Accident

A teenage girl was killed in a pedestrian accident Monday afternoon.

Alyssa L. Nanopoulos, 19, of Wakefield, was walking across the parking lot of Northeast Metro Tech High School when she was struck by a red pickup truck driven by a student of the school, Steven Brown, 19, of Winthrop around 3:30 p.m. Nanopoulos was pinned underneath the truck, according to Lieutenant John MacKay of the Wakefield police.

Brown has not yet been charged or cited. The accident is being investigated.

Nanopoulos was not a student at the high school and is believed to have may been passing through the parking returning from nearby Breakheart Reservation.
