Teenager Injured in Off-Roading Accident

A teenager suffered serious injuries in an off-roading accident two miles from Interstate 680 in California.

Breanna Furphy, 17, of Pleasanton, was riding an off-road vehicle with a classmate when she was ejected and then struck by the vehicle around 4:20 p.m. near Highway 84, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Creel.

Furphy was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley and then transferred to Stanford Medical Hosptial for treatment of upper body trauma.

The off-road vehicle had no seatbelts or doors. The accident is under investigation.
