Teenager Killed in ATV Accident

A 17-year-old male was killed in an ATV accident Monday afternoon.

According to deputies, Jeremy Heath Smith, 17, was a passenger on an ATV driven by Justin Bandy, 20, that struck a car in the opposite lane on Red Root Ridge Road Monday afternoon.

Smith was airlifted to a hospital in Bristol, Virginia where he was pronounced dead.

Bandy was taken to Holsten Valley Medical Center where he is listed in good condition.

The accident is under investigation.
