Three Injured When Cargo Container Falls From 18-Wheeler

The cargo container of an 18-wheeler truck fell onto U.S. Highway 59, causing traffic delays and multiple injuries in Houston, Texas.

The accident occurred just before the lunch rush hour at 11 a.m. Thursday. The 18-wheeler was traveling southbound on the Southwest Freeway near West Alabama when the large blue container on the rear of the truck fell onto the freeway.

The driver was able to safely exit the truck and suffered only minor injuries.

A passenger and the driver of an SUV traveling next to the 18-wheeler suffered injuries in the accident and were taken to local hospitals, according to Houston police.

The accident is being investigated by the Texas Department of Transportation officials.
