Three Killed in Accident Involving Ambulance
Three people were killed in a three-vehicle accident which included an ambulance and two other vehicles in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday, stated police.
According to witnesses, a speeding car failed to stop at a red light and hit an ambulance in a Tucson intersection, said police. The impact of the crash knocked the ambulance over onto its side and both the car and ambulance then struck a pickup truck that was stopped at the light.
A 71-year-old man traveling with his friend who was the patient being transported in the ambulance was killed at the accident scene, stated police. Two medics and the patient in the ambulance suffered minor injuries.
The 20-year-old driver of the car and a 25-year-old passenger were also killed in the accident. Two other passengers were transported to a hospital, one with life-threatening injuries and one with serious injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries.
It is being investigated if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
