Two Louisiana Men Killed in Car Accidents
Two men were killed Wednesday in two separate car accidents in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.
The first accident occurred at 6:20 p.m. when Guy B. Hennessey Jr., 45, of Ponchatoula, was driving a 2002 Saturn four-door southbound on CC Road and ran the stop sign at the intersection of CC Road and Louisiana 22, State Police Troop L spokesman Louis Calato said. The Saturn ran into a ditch on the south side of the roadway, Calato said.
Hennessey got out of the vehicle and attempted to flag down help when a light-colored pickup traveling in the westbound lane of Louisiana 22 fatally hit him, Calato said. Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Hennessey dead at the scene, Calato said.
The truck fled the scene. State police are searching for the driver of the pickup.
In the second accident, Charles E. Morse, 72, died at 9:50 p.m. when he failed to stop at the intersection of Louisiana 22 and Louisiana 1249 in a 1986 Ford pickup, and hit an embankment on the south side of the roadway, Calato said.
Morse was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office. It is suspected that Morse was impaired at the time of the crash, Calato said.
