Two Teenagers Struck and Killed by Amtrak Train
Two 15-year-olds were killed in train accident Tuesday evening near downtown Woodland, Washington.
Edward Denson and Katelen Blacklaw, both of Woodland, were the two accident victims identified by Cowlitz County Coroner Tim Davidson.
Apparently the two teenagers were standing in the northbound tracks while waiting for a much louder, southbound freight train to pass. While the loud train passed, their backs were turned to the oncoming Amtrak train and they were struck and killed around 7:10 p.m. Tuesday.
It is believed that they never heard the warning whistles of the oncoming train, Cowlitz County authorities said.
The teenagers were both freshmen at Woodland High School.
