Wife of Pro Golfer Chris Smith Killed in Car Accident

The wife of professional golfer Chris Smith was killed in a car accident Sunday near Angola, Indiana.

Beth Smith, a passenger in the vehicle, was traveling on Interstate 69 with her two children in a sports utility vehicle when they collided head-on with a Greyhound bus carrying a Canadian semipro football team.

Beth Smith was pronounced dead at the accident scene when she was trapped inside the SUV, which was engulfed in flames by the time rescue workers arrived.

Their two children, Abigail and Cameron, were taken to Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital where they were listed in critical condition.

Twelve members of the football team were taken to Cameron Hospital in Angola, Indiana with minor injuries.

Chris Smith has competed on the PGA Tour since 1991 and was the winner of the 2002 PGA Tour Buick Classic.
