Wisconsin Man Intoxicated When Killed in Snowmobile Accidnt
A man killed in a snowmobile accident Sunday had a blood alcohol level that was over four times the legal limit to drive a vehicle, shows preliminary autopsy results.
The accident occurred in the town of Holland, Wisconsin at about 6:00 p.m. Sunday near Bluff View Court, about 200 yards off the road near the cemetery.
James Weymiller, 44, of La Crosse was killed when he accidently veered off a snowmobile trail at a curve and collided into a tree. He was discovered by another snowmobiler who was riding by. The La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department, the Holmen Fire Department, Tri-State Ambulance and Wisconsin DNR, all responded to the scene of the accident.
Weymiller died from a lacerated liver and spleen, most likely injuries in result of hitting the handlebars on his snowmobile, according to La Crosse County Medical Examiner John Steers.
Urine alcohol analysis from the autopsy revealed that Weymiller had a blood alcohol level of 0.36 at the time of the accident, which is over four times the legal limit to drive a vehicle.
