Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on Highway 156
A woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer on Highway 156 near Prunedale, California Thursday morning.
The woman was driving a Ford Focus westbound on Highway 156 when her vehicle crossed the center line and traveled in the eastbound lanes at Meridian Road around 8 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman attempted to stop her vehicle but slammed head-on with an oncoming tractor-trailer. The vehicle then ran into an embankment off the roadway.
The woman was transported by helicopter to San Jose Regional Medical Center suffering serious injuries.
Highway 156 was closed for several hours after oil from the tractor-trailer was spilled on the highway.
