Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Roll-Over Accident

A woman was killed in a two-vehicle roll-over accident on Highway 101 Saturday night.

The accident occurred on Highway 101 just south of Fairview Avenue when a vehicle driven by Fabian Maduena of Hollister, struck the back side of another vehicle causing it to overturn several times. The driver and front passenger of the vehicle that was struck by Maduena did not suffer from any injuries.

According to California Highway Patrol officers, the rear passenger, Rosario Silvestre, 41, of Goleta, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle when it overturned. Silvestre was transported to Cottage Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Maduena was later arrested and booked for DUI, hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter.
