Worker Killed at Pipeline Construction Site Accident
A worker was killed in an accident at a natural gas pipeline construction site in St. Omer, Indiana Wednesday night.
Randy Gardner, 46, of Baxter, Tennessee, was working at the Rockies Express Pipeline construction site when a wooden mat that was being used to hold construction equipment fell on him.
Gardner was taken to an Indianapolis hospital, about 35 miles from Omer, where he later died, according to Sheehan Construction spokesman Leonard Pataki.
State officials are investigating the accident.
The finished pipeline will carry natural gas from Colorado to Ohio.
