Worker Killed in Farm Accident
A worker was killed after he fell into a silo filled with wheat on a farm outside Smithfield, Virginia on Tuesday morning.
The man had fallen into the silo loaded with wheat on a farm on Griffin Lane, off U.S. Route 10. Emergency crews responded to the scene at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday and spent a number of hours removing the loads of wheat before they were able to retrieve the victim’s body.
The accident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
It is unknown what caused the worker to fall into the silo.
