Young Man Killed in Tragic Freight Train Accident

A young man was killed when he was hit by a freight train at Seattle’s Carkeek Park Saturday night.

The man, in his early 20s, was walking with a group that had been at the beach and was walking along the tracks to get back up to Carkeek Park when the Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train came upon them.

The Chicago bound train blasted its horn and pressed the emergency brakes but one of the members of the group, a young man, was not able to get out of the way in time and was struck around 9 p.m. Saturday.

The train could not avoid hitting man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
