Young Skating Girl Hit By Car

An 11-year-old girl suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a car while skating in Des Moines, Iowa Tuesday evening.

According to witnesses, Lejla Subasic, 11, was skating near a city intersection with she skated in front of an oncoming vehicle driven by Stacy Davis, of West Des Moines, and was struck.

Davis stopped immediately after the collision. According to police spokesman Sgt. Vince Valdez, the incident appears to have been an accident and no charges have been filed.

Subasic was transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center where she was listed in fair condition as of Tuesday night.
