Young Woman Killed in Hit-And-Run Accident

A young woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident when she attempted to cross Sunrise Highway in Islip Terrace, New York early Sunday morning. Suffolk police are in the process of searching for the vehicle responsible and the driver that fled the scene.

The accident occurred when the woman, whose name has not been released pending family notification, attempted to cross Sunrise Highway near Pacific Avenue at approximately 3:50 a.m. Sunday and was hit by an oncoming car, police said. The car then fled the accident scene.

Police are searching for the vehicle that most likely sustained front-end damage and are asking for anyone with information regarding the crash for help.
